I'm looking for a good place to board my dog for about a week over Christmas. He's never been kenneled before, so I'm a little concerned and want to get the most dog friendly place I can find (aka- not a vet's office if I can help it). Any suggestions?
I've never boarded my dogs but I have used a certain petsitter's service... Zookeeper... and was very pleased. My cousin used to take her dog to the pet hotel at the Cary Petsmart and was always happy with it. I'm sure others can chime in about local boarding places such as Bone Voyage for you. Best wishes!
Hi there. All Critters Animal sitters is great...she comes to you to care for your pets. You need to be careful if your dog has never been kenneled...not all animals board well (some get really severely stressed)...you might want to try a dry run. I know people who leave their pet at the Pet Smart in Cary in their boarding facility. They have doggy daycare there during the day so your dog can be socialized. Good luck!
That's probably Bone Voyage (www.bonevoyageinc.com). I highly recommend them, but I think they said they're booked for Christmas.
A 3rd for Zookeeper!!! My furry kids absolutely LOVE their "Aunt Vickie"!! I'm real picky about who takes care of my pets and how they are treated, but I never have to worry 1 minute when Vickie is taking care of them, she is GREAT!! Call her soon, she books up fast...
Lets toss a fourth in there, I haven't used the pet sitting services yet, but she was/is wonderful with her training services from what I have seen so far.
Can he go stay with friends or family, or someone he knows? I know he's a big boy ... wasnt sure if you had family in the area or something tho, that could dog-sit for you ... it WOULD be better to have someone take care of him in his own home, if he's never been kennelled. Much less stress in his own home. Definitely do your looking and booking ASAP ...
I moved to NC from Upstate NY, so no family here. I booked with Bone Voyage. The dog will go to them for puppy day care several times before he actually stays there and hopefully that will help his stress levels. I'm keeping fingers crossed. He can't go with me to NY for the holidays, and I have no one here that can take him. Thanks everyone for your suggestions
If that's his pic - I wish he could come stay with us! "Big Woof Woof" would love a playmate to run with!
Your dog will love it. They are really good with my babies. They even had a Howl-o-ween party...all of the dogs and staff dressed up, and Bone Voyage sent a goody bag and a CD with pictures of all the costumes home with each dog!
