West View Elementary is currently having a box top drive starting Monday (May11th - May15th). We'd love to have them also ... or anyone else who has some spares :)

Thank You, both schools are equal distance from my house. Will see what direction my car decides to go in. I try to give a different school my box tops each year. Even though my kids are long done with school, it is out of habit to save those box tops each year. And an equally good feeling when I turn them in to a school and see their face light up.

It's great that you save the box tops even though your children are out of school already :) With the struggling economy and all the budget cuts at the school, every little bit helps. Which ever direction you end up taking the boxtops ... I'm sure they will be very helpful & appreciated.

I have enlisted my Grandmother and most of my aunts and uncles. We get a huge bag of them a couple times a year. Love it! :hurray: OP, thanks for helping out the schools!

Not being a parent of a child in school, I am curious.
What do they use the box tops for?
And that its the top that has the UPC symbol?
And if for some reason the upc is on the side or back of a box can it be cut out and used as a applicable box top?
And do they do this at the end of every school year?
What does the class or school get out of it?
I assume the school with the most box tops gets some sort of prize.
Also can anybody donate? Heck I would like to help out any of the close by schools that does that.

    PS Happy Mothers day

it looks like a little coupon. no, you don't need the upc. any school can participate. you get 10 cents for each one. they pay twice a year. some schools do it as pta fundraisers. some schools do it to buy playground equipment, or books, or whatever they need. there's a website, but i'm too lazy to google it and link it. search "box tops for education". they're on all kinds of stuff.

I'm actually part of the Box Tops committee for one of the local schools, and I can tell you it is really appreciated when kids save and send in box tops (or parents, as the case usually is!) If you really want to do the school a favor, cut them on the dotted line and make sure they're not expired, believe it or not that does matter! I never knew that until last year when I started helping. If we send any in that are expired, and the Box Tops "people" find even one that is expired, they'll throw out the whole batch and the school won't get any money for what was sent in. Also if any are cut inside the dotted line and the code or date are cut off, the same thing. I never knew that either. Just a little fyi, I've had to throw a lot out because of that before.

I have been the cordinator for MCES for the last couple of years. Thanks to Box Tops we were able to only have one fundraiser this year (Fall Festival). Yes it has been tight but the PTA has made it through a very tough finiancial year. We have collected enough Box Tops since last March to collect a total of about $2,781. This has really come from trash. This is what people would have thrown away. I run contest usally quaterly for the kids. We have given Webkins away, Christmas Stockings loaded with High School Musical items, we gave a message away to the teacher whose class collected the most, we have done popcorn parties for the classes and now we will be doing drawings for Kookies. THe kids love the different prizes. PLEASE start collecting Box Tops if you don't. They are on everything that General Mills supplies; ie ceral, trash bags, juice, huggies, plates, snacks, etc. If you have any boxtops collected and can not get by the school please let me know and I will be glad to meet you somewhere and get them from you. There is someone at the school Mon-Fri from 8:15 to 5:00 that knows where they go if you would like to drop some off. Thanks for your support.
