My son is 6 going into 1st and wants to join the cub scouts. Anyone know how or where to join? are there age limits? Thanks
where you live sorta points to what pack to join... pack 33 is located at the Church next to DR.wells there is a pack closer to Mcgees and than there is one around Clayton... I believe there are a few here that have scouts...
Scouts is definitely worth the time, energy, effort and money!!! My son just finished his second year of working summer camp and it has made all the difference in him. We've been in almost 9 years and you just can't go wrong with it. Best of luck to him and congrats on a wonderful choice! :hurray:
I often have CRS... LOL but I think its pack 74 there... KDC where you at???? Hanging out at the pool...:twisted: I don't mean that literally... :jester:
Pack 24 is at the Clayton Civitan. PM me for contact info if you are interested. I know the cubmaster really well. 8) Also, if you'd like you can go to www.bsanc.org and you should be able to find the pack nearest you if that would work out better for you. We LOVE scouting and DS just had a fabulous week at resident camp at Camp Tuscarora.
Here are some really neat videos of what has been going on at Camp T this summer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z3TQ4__tnQ This one is very cool of the Marines bringing some helicopters in for the boys to see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLvuQ6RTZEg&feature=related
Hey that was cool... never knew or heard that about the Marines landing there... Certainly a really really good Camp that has improved the last several years..
It's great to see all of the improvements since I was a scout going to summer camp there back in the early/mid 80's and the amount of participation both by the scouts, volunteers, and community seems to have grown, which in this day and age is hard to imagine. Craig
I think folks are starting to see that they REALLY need to be involved with their kids. I was STUNNED at how many folks signed up last year during the round up. Of course, there has been a high attrition rate, because it does take some parental involvement. It's not a just drop your kid off for an hour a week kind of thing. But we are growing steadily and I am very proud of what our pack accomplishes. This is DS's last year as a Cub Scout and DH is going to be the cubmaster, so I am going to be in it up to my neck, I have a feeling. But that is a good thing. 8)
When I was in we would have many of the parents who were active that would come into our weekly meetings to help assist with our "training", but there were only a few that would actually come along and assist on our weekend outtings. My parents were involved enough that my dad was asked to be the Assistant Scout Master, and then the Scout Master awhile later. And those were some of the best fun times I had as a kid. We even went to the National Jamboree back in either 84 or 85, hard to remember exactly as that was 25 years ago, and some days I have trouble remembering last week. Craig
Yep, I am hoping that DS will remember how much time and effort his dad has put into this. He might not fully appreciate it now, but I think he will in time.
