Okay, thinking about taking the kids to Busch Garden's for 3 days/2 nights.... I looked at the Wolf Lodge too (not sure about that)... I am trying to keep it as reasonably priced as possible, so any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks, in advance, for your help.
We stayed at the Embassy Suites. They have a full cooked to order breakfast. Fill up the kids and you won't have to buy anything in the park.
I used this site and did the 'Bounce Package' family of 4 for 3 nights 4 days was under $500 with rooms and park admission to Water Country and BG! http://www.buschgardens.com/BGW/
We used to buy the yearly passes. They also included Water Country. We stopped buying the passes when the gas price started to climb and the kids started to get older.
What is interesting at Colonial Williamsburg for a 5 yo & 1 1/2 yo? Trying to decide between the bounce or the BG & WC tickets. Vacation is coming up soon!
go to www.saveonresorts.com or do a search on time shares in Williamsburg VA. The Great Wolf Lodge will probably run you at the cheapest $200+/night. Economy hotels will run you about $80+/night. Time share packages maybe the best way to go if you do not already have your passes. We have had seasonal passes for about three years now but we usually only stay 1 or two nights at one of the economy hotels. time share packages 4 Days and 3 Nights @ Parkside Williamsburg Affiliate Hotels Your accommodation will be set at one of the below properties... Sleep Inn Historic Hotel La Quinta Inn Williamsburg Guestroom - Sleeps 4 2 Adult Busch Gardens One Day Passes FREE Continental Breakfast each Morning Additional Night Available for Only $79. Just $169 for the package (approximately $12 per night hotel tax paid upon check-in). Happy Vacationing!
be careful - booked a hotel on line to go there once and it was miserable in person..looked great in the pics but so does a junk yard in the right light and from the right angle. Sorry I do not recall the name.
Always, Always, Always check www.tripadvisor.com before heading to a hotel you're not sure about or have never seen, it's great!
oh just heads up...never stay at the Best Western Patrick Henry Inn. It was dirty. The garbage was piled up high in front of the door. The furniture was falling apart. The door to enter the back building didn't lock. There was no lounge that they advertised. Let's not forget the TRAIN that travels right behind the hotel ALL NIGHT. I guess I should throw something good about it in here. It IS walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg.
I would also like to know more thoughts on Williamsburg for little ones. I've always wanted to go, but didn't know if the kids would like it.
Colonial Williamsburg is ok. My daughter was 4 years old when we went and she enjoyed the retiring of the flag ceremony and the gun shop. They had an old farm there and she liked that too. Some people will say to just go and walk around without paying admissions, but if you do that the children can't see up close what is going on. She was so young that she didn't grasp everything, but I would think it would be interesting for say like a 12 year old. We went into the courthouse while we were there and the teenagers that we saw were actually paying attention to the attendant.
When I lived within driving distance for a day trip to BG, I bought seasons pass for the family. It was a great deal and includes all the special stuff, like the Ghost Train at Halloween (which is awesome, BTW). Kids loved it and still talk about the roller coasters. I've never stayed there overnight, so I can't help you there.
Has anyone ever taken a train trip to Williamsburg? Thinking that (if the tickets aren't too pricey) might be a neat addition to the trip.... But I have never done this before so I have no idea what to expect...
