I was just prescribed Byetta yesterday and was wondering if anyone uses this or knows of anyone that uses this. I want to get some personal feedback on this. Thanks.

I started Byetta about 3 weeks ago. I will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Ya gotta be cool to have George on your avatar.

I was warned about the nausea. That is my biggest concern. I have been on Metformin for years and it still isn't doing good. I was given the option of 1 of 3 pills or Byetta. Byetta sounded like the most sensible one except for the nausea part.

Thank you! I just love George!

Nausea is one of the side effects that I encountered. I think I had nausea for about a week. For me, it was not too bad. No other side effects that I noticed.
One thing I have noticed, my appetite seems to be a bit smaller. My doctor told me that is one of the benefits of taking Byetta. I don't know about you but I could stand to lose some weight.

I was reading on their site this morning about the smaller appetite and the weight loss. Woo Hoo! LOL
I am just not sure about sticking myself. :?
I was gonna start this morning but I think I might start Sat. just incase of the nausea then I don't have to worry about being out and about.

My doctor prescribed me the 31G needles and they are small compared to the others. He also told me to inject in my abdomen within 2 inches of my bellybutton. I found that if I inject below my bellybutton it does not hurt hardly at all. To tell you the truth, you can hardly feel the stick.
I will pray that your nausea is very minimal.

    Gotta go to work now!

    Folks
as a matter of reference..the 31 g needle is smaller than the probocis of most mosquitoes. And rarely do we feel the skeeter bite when it happens. Afterwards, yes. During? no.

Good luck maintaining glucose control. Your doctor has prescribed one of those "Once in a lifetime miracle" meds, that took billions of dollars to develop and bring to market. You have to do your part though. If you do progress to insulin, remember that Novo Nordisk is one of the leading companies in the world in diabetes research and treatment, and they have a plant in Clayton. If your physician offers you a choice of insulins (and there are several out there) choosing one that is a world class insulin and one that keeps high paying jobs in Clayton- that's the one I'd choose. I have no affiliation with Novo Nordisk.

Did the first shot last night well I was too chicken to do it so DH did it. I didn't feel a thing. Woo Hoo. That needle is so thin and little. Thank Goodness. Felt a little light headed and warm for about 5 min and that was it. I hope that is all the side effects I have to deal with.
