Anyone have experience with growing Cacti outside in this area (climate)?
Thinking of using some, I will probably keep them in containers so they can be brought inside during the cold times.

Suggestions of places to get some nice plants? Lowes mostly has small ones, I'm looking for something about a foot or more in height.

My parents have some on their ditch banks. I don't know what kind they are but they have been there for about 25 years and have always done well. My parents are out of town so I can't ask my dad about them right now, but I'll try to remember to ask him what they are next week.

That is exactly what is on my parents' ditches. Thanks Cleo, never knew the name of it before. :)

I planted some Prickly Pear in our yard a few years ago, it's been doing great.

We also have prickly pear and have had them for 15 years or more. But be aware that although we started with one plant, we now have many! Ours are planted out near the road at the corner of our yard so they're fine with me. Also had the same experience with one yucca (I think that's what it is--tall things with long very sharp tips.) We also started with one of those and now there's probably 2 dozen of em'!
