To tell you the truth, unless it's a professional/studio grade camcorder, it's probably going to be cheaper to buy a new one.
List the symptoms and the model # / manufacturer. It'll be easier to evaluate value verses repair cost with that info. Some repairs that are not economical: Zoom lens sticks or stops, Bad power / accy cable connectors, Audio loss, battery compartment corrosion, selector button malfunctions, .... Quiz the web first with your symptoms before you chuck it. "You're never the first one of many to have an identical problem with an electronic device!":lol: And before you trash it, recycle it. If you know a geek, cameras have great parts to retrieve, give it to them.
