Can anyone recommend a make-up artist at a local department store? I've got a 14 year old niece that would like to learn some tips! Thanks.

    Makeup tips

I don't know of anyone specifically, but I know the major brands are open to doing the makeup tips. Clinique is really good at working with customers, and you don't have to buy anything.

I would try going to Sephora in Crabtree Valley Mall. They will apply like the department stores and do not charge you. They have all kinds of makeup to chose from, good luck

I would personally find a good Mary Kay consultant that would come to your house and work with her about makeup and cleaners and taking care of her skin for life, you would spend no more than if you went to the mall.

When my DD turned 14 I took her to Ulta in Cary. They took their time telling her how to put on makeup and so forth and then afterwards helped us shop for the right colors, etc.

Ulta and Sephora are really good. Clinique is also really good. A good friend of mine used to manage all of the cosmetic lines at Belks and she told me that first and most important is skin care then make up.

The girls that work at the Mac store at Crabtree are young and fun and do a great job. Plus, Mac is a little less expensive if you decide to buy some things.

I went to Merle Norman when I was a teen, and I think Clinique is a good choice as well. Or, throw a Mary Kay party and have some other teens come over.

I know when I went to ulta, they weren't all that helpful, they wanted to make sure I was going to punk down the cash before starting on me..needless to say I didn't do it. I don't like to be pushed like that.

That sounds fun - and they can also teach them about skin care and stuff. :) We actually did something like that with our Youth girls at church. We also talked about the 'proper' way to dress, etiquette, stuff like that.
