Obviously not for self-promotion, but for those of us looking for goods or services? I need to find a great place to get a 40th birthday cake and a 3rd birthday cake. I'm looking for great flavor and lots of options (not just vanilla or chocolate with buttercream), in larger sizes like quarter- and half-sheet, and of course good decorating. I'm also looking for a carpenter or handy-man to install some decorative trim in my house, as well as make and install some simple floating shelves to coordinate with the trim we already have (nothing too fancy). We're also looking for an individual or business to put up a fence (we'd like quotes for a black chain link vs. a privacy fence) and another to outfit our house with gutters. I'd really like to stay with local individuals and/or businesses. We only moved to the area a few months ago, so we don't know a lot of people to make recommendations. We almost had a deck installed a few months ago by the Holy Handyman, but chickened out when we couldn't find anyone (live or on the internet) who could recommend him. Oh, and we know one business that quoted two identical houses in the same subdivision two very different prices ($500 vs $700) for exactly the same gutters. :banghead: Thanks!
For the cakes... Cleveland Cake & Bakery up @ 40 behind Smithfields Chiken & BBQ. VERY good people! Carpentry... PM Monaco, he's out of work right now and might be able to help you. He's helped some of the 4042ers out with odd & end jobs.
Really? Cool. I thought he just did plumbing and appliance type repairs. Off to PM him now. Thanks!!!
Talk about a range in prices - we recently got several quotes for siding, windows and gutters BIG BIG differences!! :banghead: One thing to keep in mind (that someone else on here mentioned, maybe DMJmom) that just because someone bids low - if they don't have experience doing that type of work, they may unknowingly under bid because they don't realize what all the job entails. Or they under bid to get the job and then it ends up costing more - so get as many details as possible on the bids and what is covered and what is not (such as disposal of waste materials).
crysta, here is Cleveland Cake and Coffee's website.....they do pretty good work up there.... http://www.clevelandcakeandcoffee.com/
PM me if you want a design. I am not sure if they will boot the picture. It is not nasty, just sexy. It is a cake that is two women from the neck to the knees wearing bikini's. This is not real pictures, just designed. They are lets' say well endowed... underneath it says: "Happy Birthday. I hope you enjoy for 4 D's" I thought it was cute and my husband loved it. I will see if I can get you a pic if interested.
Ok here is my referral.. for cakes http://www.mcleanscafe.com/ they did my son's 5th birthday a few weeks ago and it was awesome, it was a 3d pirate ship. if I knew how to post a pic I would.. For handyman work Trenton Seagroves 669-9332.. Good Luck!
I recommend them also. I used the one in Clayton. They did my son's going away cake when he was leaving for basic training. They did an awsome job. I took a picture of what I wanted on the cake, which was the AF symbol and it looked great.
