West Johnston PTSA to present Johnston County Board of Education Candidate Forum Thursday, October 26, 2006 at 7 pm - 9 pm WEST JOHNSTON PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ASSOCIATION (WJPTSA) to present Johnston County Board of Education Candidate Forum WJPTSA will moderate the Johnston County Board of Education Candidate Forum to be held at West Johnston High School Auditorium on Thursday, October 26, 2006 from 7 pm - 9 pm. The public is invited to attend and listen to their school board nominees prior to November 7, 2006 elections.
Thanks for the heads-up. This will be a good opportunity to learn more about the school board candidates, with the election upon us. I have already voted, but I might go anyway, and hope I don't get a case of "buyer's remorse."
If I didn't have something that I had to do every night this week, I might would have gone to this. I'm pretty sure I know who on the school board is going to get my vote, but anyone who is uncertain, should definitely go!
Well, I'll ask Who do you like for School Board? We vote for 3 people? Or More? Right? I like Butler Hall. I know him from Four Oaks & he did teach 7 & 8 grade PE at CES back in the 1980's. The others - I only know what I have read on here and in the local papers. Fill me in!!!
In case anyone is wondering, here's a list of who's up for what: http://www.newsobserver.com/politics/elections/voters_guide/johnston I was going to go thru the canidate profiles, but they're hosted on a blog page of the N&O and my firewall here at work won't let me access it. The only person I can tell you for sure without looking at their profile and picture again, that I'm going to vote for is current member Larry Strickland. He is a fantastic parent advocate and not what I would call a minion of Dr. Parker.
Too bad so few people turned out for this very informative forum. From what I saw, looked like mostly band parents in attendance. Are we the only ones concerned with the present school board? I hope not!
Candidate Froum... I think I counted less 55 people there and that included the candidates. It was very informative. Did anybody here go?
By the way - last week when Senator Fred Smith was down at West Johnston..he made or rather his campaign manager made - the color guard switch the placement of the American Flag - which always goes on the right - so it wouldn't block his campaign poster. Kiddo argued and spoke to the CoL. but he said to go along with it. How desparate and vain do you have to get to have our country's flagmoved just so your own picture can be more visable?
Typical politician. Oh that's right...in his brochures it always says he's not a politician...just a conservative businessman. Can't wait until Mr. Ego runs for Governor and can't even get out of the primary in 2008.
Here's a run-down of the meeting if anyone's interested. http://www.newsobserver.com/152/story/503744.html
