Any suggestions? I had Stanley Steemer before, but I may want someone else.

The local favorite always seems to be Parrish, but they did a poor job in one incident I'm familar with. To the company's credit, it could have been the employees they sent, but they were apparently not qualified to do the job.

Chem-Dry of Johnston County was dispatched to clean up their mess they left and did an excellent job, however others may have a different spin on the subject.

    I'd say Chem-Dry.

I vote Chem-Dry of Johnston Co. as well. They did a great job before we closed on our house, the previous owners didn't even run a vaccuum through. As part of the deal, we hired a cleaning woman to give the house a scrub down, and the realtor suggested Chem-Dry to come in and do the carpets. Chem-Dry has a great spot remover product as well!!

Why has shampooing carpets become a thing of the past?

Could always rent a Rug Doctor. That does work for some situations, however I'm not sure its worth the trouble unless you want to do it yourself.

Eatmons Carpet Cleaning. They do an excellent job of steam cleaning carpets and are pretty reasonable.
