Don't know about anyone else but I would not use Stanley Steemer again, tried them once and the carpets looked about the same as they did before they cleaned them. We rented a Bissell carpet cleaner from Lowes a few weeks ago and it did a great job!

Chem-Dry of Johnston County did a great job on our carpets!

I second the Bissel from Lowes. Just rented mine a few days ago. So easy to use. Do Not rent the Rug Doctor, harder to use and soaks your carpet and uses too much water. The Bissell uses a fraction of the water and the carpets look awesome!

Might have some legal ramifications, but have you tried Craig's List?
