can anyone refer me to carpet installers for a rental house, not looking to spend as much as i would for my own home?

We've had great success just going to Home Depot, Lowes or a regular carpet place and asking for referals. Especially in today's economy people are looking for side jobs. We got our basement carpeted for a fraction of what Home Depot wanted to charge by doing it that way, and the work was done the next day. We bought the carpet off the roll of their existing inventory and then I slipped the carpet guy my business card and told him that if someone happened to call that was willing to install the carpet for $xxx, brought his own tools and got the work done by xx/xx, that would be great (since they aren't actually allowed to do the work on the side or refer you to anyone). We've done that twice now and saved a ton of money, and were very happy both times. And it was in our own home.

My husband is a flooring subcontractor. He is always looking for side work. If you give him a call he can give you a price. His name is Chris Ward and his number is 919-369-9976. He does work for Home Depot and Lowes right now.

I was really impressed with the pricing from Fuquay Floor to Ceiling, they beat Lowes prices on my carpet, hardwood, and vinyl (and that included the $139 carpet installation from Lowes). Call Nicole Gossage 919-868-7325. They blew Lowes price out of the water on the hardwoods price.
