Any idea if dried catnip is harmful to dogs? Two of my dogs LOVE it... the collie and the mini aussie ... whenever I give some to the cat, I have to give them some too. It doesnt have the same drug-like effect, but they go nuts knowing they're going to get a pinch.

    elims,
i am not a veterinarian but i do not think catnip is harmful to dogs - granted they do not eat an entire bottle of the nip!
i do know that most dogs are not going to experience the same snazzy sensation as the cats do, poor dogs.

The only danger to dogs messing with catnip is the ticked off feline they took it from

Sincerely though, Catnip will not harm a dog.

Ok stupid question here... why would people give cat cat nip? Isn't it like giving acid to your kids just to watch them trip?

    CLUELESS HERE!

I did a google and was informed that cat nip WAS NOT the same thing as cat litter... is that right?

Koo! Good grief! I know you only have dogs but............J/K! Cat nip is a plant, for some reason, cats love it, some of them it makes a little crazy. The one time I gave some to mine, she was running around the house like the Energizer bunny. It was hilarious, but hubby said not to bring any more in, she went a little nuts! I haven't tried it with the second cat, she is really laid back, so I might have to get some just to see if it affects her. It's good for entertainment! You can either give it to them plain (it's usually dried) or it's in a lot of toys for cats to get them interested in the toy.

Yeah, bologna ususally drives my babies nuts. That or a bright leaf hot dog. And then a little later on it drives us outta the room with the processed smell!

Heheheh some ferrets act like they've lost their minds!

I know catnip won't harm guinea pigs or dogs. I hate to assume, but I wouldn't think it would hurt a ferret. I think cats are the only creatures to get 'high' off of catnip.
