Ok I have a question for all you phone gurus.

I bought a "unlocked" phone so that I could put my AT&T SIM card in it.
My SIM card says Cingular on it, and now the screen on my new phone does too, but it is AT&T. (I know same company)
Doesn't your phone number book get stored on the SIM card?
None of my numbers transferred over, and my signal all of the sudden STINKS!
It worked fine in my old Nokia phone, but in my new Motorola phone it is horrible in my house.
    Any thoughts?
    Normal?
    Or did I get hosed.

I don't know. We just switched to Verizon (thru Best Buy) and they had a machine that they hooked our phones up to and transferred all our contacts over to the new phones for us - which made me VERY happy!!! :)
Maybe the store where you got yours from can do that for you?

SIM cards hold your phone book therefore your numbers should be showing up on your new phone. You should be able to take your SIM and put it in any AT&T/Cingular phone and see your contact list.

Sometimes people don't know how to unlock phones correctly so whoever did it might not have known what they were doing. As for your signal strength...could be the same problem or it could be the phone.

They are not necessarily saved to your SIM card. When you put them in your old phone you can either save your contacts to your phone OR SIM card (or both if you want). You may have all of yours saved in your old phone instead of on your SIM card. Spoken from experience...done it be4...
