I am seriously considering it, if I can get a babysitter.

I want to go, but I feel bad about it in a way. I know my son probably would love to go, but he's not quite 8 yet and that's kind of late to have him out at a concert.

What is the atmosphere like? I see that Budweiser is a major sponsor. Is there a lot of rowdiness? Also, what is the parking like? Is it fairly secure?

Let's see.... Budweiser and Charlie Daniels Band fans... Hmmm... lol

Parking is in the nearby garages. It's free, if it gets rowdy you can leave and beat traffic. :)

I go to about all the Moore Square concerts and it is no place for a child after 7:00 PM. They have events for kids through out the day, but in the evening the drinking and crowds come out. Unless your kids are over 5ft tall they won't be able to see the stage.

FYI - the parking garages are close by, but DO NOT DRINK A BEER in them. I have parked there and paid the $7 parking fee for years to go the Moore Square concerts and always drank a few before going in, but two weeks ago they were busting people for having open containers in the parking garages. I guess they would rather people drink at their houses then drive to the concerts. If they lower the price of the beer at the event it wouldn't be so bad. $5+tip for a beer plus your guilted into giving a tip each time is crazy.

I have decided to sit this one out. I went to the concert series website and noted that it was sponsored by Budweiser so I immediately realized that the suds flow freely...well, technically not freely but you guys know what I mean. I agree with you that it just doesn't sound like a good place for a 7YO at that time of night. If we could find someone to keep him, I might would but probably won't this time around.

We went to the concert last night - so glad we did; enjoyed it better last night than when he was out to the Alltel a few years back - we had free VIP tickets for but didn't really hang out there. We had a spot behind the barricade thanks to a friend who worked for one of the companies who helped with the concert. All was fine until about 10:30 - drummer was into his solo while the rest of the band took a break; the band came back on just as a major rain storm hit - needless to say the remaining portion of the concert was cancelled and everyone made a mad dash for their vehicles. We had to run about a block and got drenched (wringing wet drenched) -- good thing I had a few towels in the car. Despite thw downpour, still a good time - we must have been lucky - didn't see too many crazy people - did see lots of young kids. Next time, we bring a lawnchair to sit on.

I left right before the rain storm. Charlie sounded great. Things were alot different for this concert with them opening up the back of the park for more room. There were alot of upset people that could not get into the Joan Jett show because of them reaching max capacity. I still think this is not a place for kids. It was so packed that I seen adults having to stand in hopes of seeing the stage. The kids and their parents there looked miserable. As I noted on the another thread, the Raleigh Police were out in force. I guess they expected a major riot to start with that many rednecks in one place.

I guess with standing 20 feet to the left of the stage with the band's family members, we missed a lot of seeing the adults having to stand. I will admit, there was this one guy who kept us entertained - he thought he was a pianist and was playing air piano and dancing for quite some time. Still a good time
