Well I think that's good news for fans, if not for the Favre family. I would much rather watch Favre than Grossman. or most of the other quarterbacks, for that matter. It would be nice if they could put a half-decent team around him. GO PACK! (owned by the people, for the peolpe, so nobody can pack up the team in the middle of the night and move it to some other city with a better media marlet ) Snuff
Snuff that's part of what I like about the Packer's ownership by the city of Green Bay. I've been a Packer fan since my sister married a Marine who was from GB. Thye live about 4 miles from Lambeau. I have Bart Starr's autograph, Ray Nitschke's, Jerry Kramer's, and Brett Favre's. I admire Favre most for playing a game he enjoys. He's sincere and would play for less money than they pay, if truth be told. He plays the game as a champion should. Perhaps, more than a small amount of pride is that I like the way we "old guys" still have game. More than anyone I know, Bratt exemplifies the old saying,"Age and expereince will overcome youth and enthusiasm."
I agree. I've always liked GB and Favre, even though they have never been my favorite team. I was soooooo p.o.'d when Art Modell packed the Browns up and moved them to Baltimore (and then they won the Super Bowl) The city owning the team is the best idea in professional sports. The city pays all the expenses for the stadium, anyway, it might as well own the team.
I'm a huge Favre fan, but i really think he should have retired. As long as he's there, the Pack won't develop new talent. The younger QB's will never get into the game with Brett on the team. Can you imagine the uproar if Favre is on the team and doesn't start? And if he was ever taken out of the game and replaced with a 2nd year guy it would be a national emergency. For the good of the team, I think he should have retired and hung around as a QB consultant or something. With him playing, the Pack is just setting itself up for failure down the road.
As a Bear's fan I can not say that Favre coming back is the best news I have herd this week but; as a football fan I am glad to see guys like Favre in the NFL and I am glad to see him back. I hope he only has two bad games next year.
