    Child Nutrition Staff Recognized at Annual Banquet

    SMITHFIELD-- There was dancing. There was singing. There was
    induction into the Order of the Knife, Fork, and Spoon. But mostly,
    there was recognition and celebration of the nearly 300 hands who
    meticulously prepare and serve the district's 4.6 million Winner's
    Circle meals each year.

    The Johnston County Schools Child Nutrition Department announced Sharon
    Horton of McGee's Elementary School as the Cafeteria Manager of the
    Year. Angela Stroud of West Clayton was named Child Nutrition Assistant
    of the Year.

    Also presented with the Betsy Cook award were Dorothy Kirby and Bonnie
    Wall, who were recognized for their strong beliefs and commitment to
    their jobs and schools.

    Inducted into the Order of the Knife, Fork, and Spoon for their high
    sanitation scores were Meadow, with a 100.13 average; North Johnston
    Middle with a 100.5 average; Polenta Elementary with a 100.5 average;
    Clayton Middle with a 100.5 average; Princeton with a 100.67 average;
    Wilson's Mills with a 100.75 average; Selma Middle with a 101.17
    average; Selma Elementary with a 102 average; Riverwood Middle with a
    102 average; and, Cleveland Middle with a 102 average.

    Four staff members were rewarded for putting the FISH philosophy to
    work at their schools-- making their work fun and productive. They are
    Mitzi Mitchell, Nettie Leisa Burns, Wendy Creech, and Cathy Jones.

    Also a fond farewell was bid to retiring staff members Margaret
    Ernestine Norris and Brenda Jane Sealey.
