Following is an e-mail from a representative of the 25th Infantry
Division, to Dr. Bill Reid who teaches Honors Ethics and Leadership at
West Johnston High School. The Division received a shipment of
backpacks for school children in Afghanistan. The backpacks were
purchased with money the students raised--approximately $2,200 on the
    school children's behalf.

    Dear Mr. Reid and Helpers,
We would like to thank you for all of the help that you have given to
the children of Afghanistan. We have used you bags that you have sent us
to supply children who would have never had them otherwise. We want you
to have the chance to actually see the end result of all of the hard
work that you have done. I have sent you a couple of pictures of one of
the schools that have received you bags. Again we would like to thank
you for your giving nature and your ability to share a piece of what you
have with children who have almost nothing. Your actions have made a big
impact, and I am sure that the children here will never forget your
    kindness.
