Ok... I want to hear the good bad and the ugly. I have had some injuries etc in my past that has left me in pain. Not horrible, but uncomfortable.... regular docs just want to give pain meds, so I thought I would sort of think about a Chiropractor. I went today for the initial exam. The xrays do show problems and he thinks he can fix it. I am leery. I would love to be pain free, but even with just deductibles it is $1000. IFFF I knew it would work I would jump on it.

I am afraid of causing problems, or it just not working. He doesn't do the twist and pop and pushes that I have heard of. He uses a pressure type hand held thingy...

I would love to know your experiences!

He uses an accuator (sp)? I personally don't like those. I want to hear my bones crack and I want the instant relief of it too, not to have to wait a few days.

I have a referral to a great Chiropractor if you want one, she's in Cary.

As far as the $$$ will they work with you if you pay "cash" instead of going thru your insurance? If not, I'd find someone else!

Hmmm, I need someone close to home since I work from home (and need childcare etc)

They will work without insurance if I want, my co-pay is $30 and they charge $38 without insurance... so no help there. Is that not a good price? I have no idea what one usually charges.

I went to a local chiropractor at 4042 and he didn't do the cracking and popping thing either. What he did do is prolong my recovery, give me ego/attitude, mess with my spine with this little spine dohicky and question me about my schedule. I was never healed there but was at Crossroads Family Chiropractic at McGees Crossroads. The doctor is Ryan Willaims and he's wonderful!

Girl, yoiu need to go to Dr. Bruce Schneider - he totally fixed my husband in just 2 weeks when he had been suffering for months and the family dr was just prescribing pain killers and muscle relaxers. i have 100% faith in him and he will work with your insurance.

I know exactly who that is, and a friend of mine went to him...roped him into several treatments a week ... my friend went to Dr Joe and saved him a boat load of money and time AND got him "straight"

I dare to say that he actually did more damage than good. I'd put him out of business if I could.:?

It is all so controversial. And as with anything or anyone, some people love it and some people hate it. I just dont have the money to waste (or the time) but I would love for it to work. I have spent hours on line with no real luck.

This is why I have done nothing about it all these years.

I went to Dr. Oxendine at 4042. I called her at first because she had a massage therapist in her office and I thought massage might help me.
I was very leary of chiro work, and told her so. She told me to come in and let her take a look and that she would be honest enough to tell me if she couldn't help.

I was in severe pain. Apparently my rib cage bones weren't lining up or something to that effect. It hurt when I took a breath.

She helped me tremendously. After the first few treatments, I noticed a big difference and within a few weeks, I was pain free. She also worked with me payment wise (still making a few payments actually) because I had such a high deductible.

I went to Chiropractic Partners - across from Walmart; saw Dr. Ferez (550-9355) and had great results. I was so leary of going to see a chiropractor but it got to the point where my disks started to lock together (had suffered 10 years in pain). It finally got so bad that I went in. Yes, he does do the cracking of the back and neck, but before he did mine, I had electrode therapy with heat for about 20 mins and then moved on to the bench while rollers moved up and down my spine to stretch it out. There was that initial pain but nothing I could not handle. Going consistently and exercising has helped dramatically. I don't even have the hip pain I used to have. After 10 years, I am pretty much pain free. I wish I had gone sooner.
