Anyone know where I can get a plantable tree? Seems like it might be a good idea since we have no trees on our property yet TIA
Check out the johnstonnc.com website. You can purchase bundles of hardwood seedlings, and they are very inexpesive. The bundles cost $8, and you get 10 to 25 seedlings in a bundle. I plan to get some red maples, because I've heard that they grow fast. Snuff
FYI: To me the most Christmas tree-Looking live trees are Fraser Firs; but they do not grow well (Or even live very long) in our area. It's just too HOT here in the summer. If you go plant a bundle tree, chose the NORTH facing side of your home, they need the cooler side and water - water - water. Here is a website with diferent Christmas Trees and info: http://www.christmasfarms.com/
Are you looking for something that will serve as a Christmas tree and than can be planted outside after? I went to Lowe's this morning, and noticed they have dwarf Alberta spruce in pots, about 2 1/2 to maybe close to 3 ft tall, not counting the pot, for ~ $46. This will not get over 6-8' tall. I wouldn't keep it in the house over a few days if you want it to live after you put it back outside, and keep it well watered.
Thank you all! I was looking for a Christmas tree that I could have in the house and then plant outside. I think it is more work than it's worth BUT, Snuff-That's a great deal and we are certainly going to get something from them!!
Oops, misunderstood what you were talking about. Duh, it's Christmas time! :? Anyway, I'm glad that info was helpful. I was quite impressed with their prices, too. Even I can afford to plant trees. Snuff
