I want to do something different this year. I am looking for suggestions on lodging/activities/restaurants in the mountains of NC. I want to see some snow, maybe some sledding/skiing... Whatcha got??? Oh, and I want a DEAL!!!!
I think you should leave the kids home with DH (coughfishingtripcough) and go rent a cabin in the mountains of NC with a hot tub on the deck, and a steady supply of good wine and chic flicks.
I'd go with you, but umm, I'm not allowed to travel right now, so sayeth the man, lol. I'll be there in spirit! I get free nights and weekends, you can call me!
Bumping for the afternoon crowd.... I KNOW there are some skiers here. A resort would be nice, with an indoor pool. Anything like that out that way?
They may already be booked, but try the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. It's a 4-story indoor water park/hotel. The prices for the rooms seem expensive until you factor in that they include waterpark tickets for the group. Then it's a good deal...and it' fun!

The Smoketree Lodge near Boone/Blowing Rock has an indoor pool and hot tub but is not one of the ski resorts either. http://www.smoketree-lodge.com/amenities.htm We also rented a cabin near there one year with a hot tub included.
