Dr. Rob Dawkins will be moving to the Hirizon clinic in March. Highly recommend him.

I've been to Kryn - won't be going back. From my own experience, I could tell he treats women patients differently than men. I go in and I can't get one pill for pain and my husband goes and Kryn is sending notes through the mail with "where would you like me to call in a prescription for some Lipitor.." I went in because I fell off a ladder while painting the house. He told me that there was no reason why my shoulder should be hurting since I didn't hit anything on the way down. I told him that I jerked it so hard trying to catch my falling that I knew I'd injured it before I hit the ground. He said to take some Ibuprofen and it should be fine - fine my butt -- it took a year before I had full range of motion.

Another time (like an idiot) I went because I was having chest pains. He asked me if the weight of my breasts wasn't my problem. I told him no that'd be the back ache - he didn't find it humerous. Anyway, I proceeded to tell him that I thought I had an ulcer and gave him my symptoms. He said no - I'll send you for x-rays to see if it isn't pluerisy (sp??). I told him my lungs didn't hurt. Found out it wasn't pluerisy so he needed to go down my throat with a scope. It ended up being three ulcers. Duh!!! is what I wanted to say.

Then to top it off, I go earlier this year because I had an earache and with flying back from Florida, I didn't want a problem. I get to the office, ask the receptionist if he is running late (which is always the case). He was. I told her that I needed to head down to Florida that afternoon and it may be that I'll need to cancel my appt. and get my co-pay back because we were leaving at 2:00. My appointment was at 11:00 ( got there a few min. early). I'm waiting and waiting and the receptionist comes out and says he'll just be a few min. later. At 11:30 she comes and puts me in a room and freakin' leaves me there. The nurse comes in takes my blood pressure, history, temp., etc. and leaves. She is gone for quite some time and then Kryn comes in and asks a few questions and leaves. Nurse finally comes in to run a quick hearing test and leaves my butt there again. When I finally checked out it was 1:45 p.m. (keep in mind my appointment was at 11:00). If all that wasn't bad enough, I get my eob from the insurance company and I noticed that my appointment was more expensive than my husband's appointment with his new doctor and he had more done than me. When I called the insurance company, the rep. told me it was because my appointment was coded at a Level __ (can't remember if it was a 2 or 4). I asked her what that meant. She said it was a visit that lasted more than 20 mins. I was pi$$ed. I told the rep. that's not right. I was put in a room and left there. I could have very easily sat in the waiting room. I am now convinced that I was put in the examining room before I needed to be put in one just so they could bill a higher rate.

    Anyway - that's my experience.

Stay far, far away from Krynn. I found him to be incredibly condescending towards women, he informed me that the method of BC I was using when we moved here wasn't one he prescribed for "his ladies". WTH?? Then one of co-horts there nearly killed my DH. Too long to type here, but it was an "experience". I wouldn't take my cats there. I know of a couple other people who had horrible experiences there too.

I am so glad to hear someone else agrees with me on that. I've been saying that for a long time.

I've had excellent luck with Joan Meehan at Clayton Medical. I think there are a few on here who don't like her, but I've been going for several years and am generally satisfied. She listens and attempts to get to the root of the problem, and not afraid to send you to someone else if she doesn't know what's wrong. They've always gotten me in quickly if I needed to be seen. I did see someone else in the practice last year when she was on vacation and I had a semi-emergency, not sure if it was a miscommunication or what, but I was ticked when I left. I will only see her now.

He told me Monday that he hopes to start there on March 10th.

At least for me this is a plus, closer to home, told my insurance was not an issue (BCBS) and from what I read in this thread Horizon sounds like a great clinic.

Dr. Williams at Horizon tops. He listens, not an alarmist but knows when something needs immediate attention and follows through.

Hear Dr. Meehan (male) is ok too!

Is this for sure? I've heard Dr. Dawkins is great and considered switching my children to the office he is at in McGees. However, I learned it is often difficult to get a same day sick appointment there...some times several days to get in. When I called a few times during office hours I could only reach a machine. From what I've heard of Dr. Dawkins and Dr. Williams, having them both at the Horizon office will be wonderful for patients!

Is it hard to get an appointment at the Horizon office ... especially same day for child sick visits? Are there other Dr.'s at Horizons that you see and how are they?

My husband sees Dr Williams, so does my MIL, and they both love him, he knows his patients histories well and stays on top of "problems" they may be having. My 3 sons and I see Dr Harris at Horizon and we love him, he's very attentive and friendly, won't push meds on someone that doesn't need them. I will say I don't care too much for Kathleen the nurse practioner there...Other than that though, both doctors are great. If you have a child that is really sick and needs to be seen that day, they'll fit you in somehow. My son was very sick 2 years ago, and they got us in at 5:00 that day, good thing too he ended up having scarlett fever!

Have never been seen by Dr. Harris, but hear he is very good as well. I have seen Kathleen and she showed lots of concern, etc., was only a sinus infection.

About the office staff, don't care for them as much, not sure they care for patients as much as the doctors. Lab is good also.

In the Clayton/Cleveland area, it would be advisable to check the www.ncmedboard.org and see which doctors have privileges at what hospitals...especially if you have a preference for any particular hospital should the need arise.

Most Johnston Co. docs have admitting privileges at JMH, but only some have the same at WakeMed and even fewer at a private hospital like Rex. Usually, you have to go to Garner area to find a doc that can admit to Rex.

Could it be because he is number 71 on the list of physicians who have signed A Declaration of Life by Pro-Life Physicians, which "declaration was created by the public policy department of American Life League, Inc. It was circulated to members of the medical and scientific communities for review and endorsement. The physicians listed below have all signed statements of agreement with the declaration."

Here is a blurb taken off the American Life League fact link:

What differentiates ALL from other pro-life, pro-family groups?

ALL is opposed to all abortion, contraception and other threats to the human person and the family. This total protection approach separates us from many of the other major groups. ALL will not support abortion-related legislation that contains exceptions for rape, incest, life of the mother, fetal deformity or other such condition.

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE stay away from Dr. Kryn. He literally almost killed my daughter!

I was out of town and she came down with what my wife thought was a chest cold. It didn't go away after a few days, so my wife took her to Dr. Kryn. He diagnosed her with an "ear infection" and gave her the good 'ole pink stuff. Well, the next morning my wife called me frantically from an ambulance. My daughter was being rushed to the hospital with a 104 degree temperature. She was shaking uncontrolably and coughing up huge amounts of green flem. I met my wife at the ER and was told that my daughter had DOUBLE pnuemonia. After stablizing her, the ER doc took us aside, and with a very angry look on her face asked "Why the hell didn't you get her to a doctor when her cold didn't go away?!" I told the doc that my wife had taken her to Dr. Kryn. The ER doctor looked me right in the eye and said "Oh, that explains it". After hearing that I said "I'm gonna sue that bas-My Friend". Again, she looked me right in the eye and said "You'll have to wait in line", and then turned and walked away.

    Again, let me re-iterate...

Please, PLEASE, PLEASE do not take any chances with Dr. Kryn!
