The Clayton Rugby family continues to grow. As we prepare for 2016, the recruiting and sign up process has begun in all age groups. Between the Clayton Copperheads (youth/HS) and Clayton RFC (Men), there are almost 300 active players in Johnston County. Our youth program, the Clayton Copperheads, has teams in each age bracket with playing opportunities for kids in Grades 1st-12th. Registration is open in all age groups. The Middle School and High School teams have just started practice and the younger teams start in February. All teams, including the HS team, are open to any players in the area regardless of which school they attend. The Copperheads have quickly grown into one of the largest and most successful youth programs on the East Coast. The men's team just began practicing for the upcoming season and practices about twice per week. The team plays their Spring schedule from mid-February-early May, plays in a few tournaments during the Summer, and then participate in the Carolinas Rugby Union men's division in the Fall. Players are welcome regardless of playing experience or physical ability. The Club has teams for players looking to play competitively and for those that prefer a more social experience. No prior rugby experience is necessary. Rugby is a great way to meet friends for life and get in shape in the process. Not interested, but I have seen this organization practice in East Clayton Park and have been impressed.
