Our family will be moving to Clayton (Wynston Subdivision) in 3 weeks. I just tried to switch our phone service (bellsouth/at&t) but was told that I was not going to be able to move our account due to no service in that area. Needless to say I was shocked. Could I possible have someone help me find out who the best long distance/local phone company for this area. Actually, I would really appreciate it if someone could advise of any utility information Gas, water, trash etc... I am trying to make sure everything is taken care of before we make our move. Thank you in advance for the help
you will probably have Sprint/Embark as the local phone. Here is a site that is supposed to tell you everything you need to know. http://whitefence.com/ as far as the phone, you could also try one of the VOIP if you get high-speed Internet then no matter where you move to/from you could always take your number with you.
Welcome I hope you have a safe move. Where are you relocating from? Welcome to the area and you have found a good discussion board to help find answers.
Thank you. We are originally from Oregon. Moved to the Atlanta area 4 years ago and now are happily getting out of Georgia. I really love this board so far. We don't know a single person (other than our wonderful realtor) in NC so this board will definately come in handy.
Welcome to the neighborhood, we live right around the corner from Wynston. The Town of Clayton City Limits were just recently moved to include the Wynston sub-division, as well as Coxwood next door. I don't know what what will mean down the road, we are pretty close to probably being in the towns next city limit move, but they haven't got us yet. We use Advantage Waste for trash, they're about $15/qtr less than Waste Industries and just as reliable. I think we've had them for about a year and haven't had any problems. http://www.advantagewastenc.com/ This link also has some good Johnston County information on it http://www.co.johnston.nc.us/mainpage.cfm?category_level_id=933&content_id=3159 I'd say (and I really don't like Time Warner), but they've been reliable, got a decent bundle package for RoadRunner and Cable (DigiPic1000 DVR HiDef box, 2 basic cable on bedroom tv's) for $91/mo (taxes & fees incl.) If you work the customer service rep over, you can get a good deal. www.twcnc.com BellSouth does not serve this area of the Triangle, Embarq (Sprint in disguise) is the local phone service provider for a traditional home phone. Basic no frills, no extras costs us about $26/mo incl taxes & fees. We don't carry a long-distance provider or plan since our cell phones have free long distance on them, and the coverage is okay enough that for the few long distance calls we do make they do just fine. http://www.embarq.com/Portal/embarq.portal Good luck with the move!!
We lived in Seattle Area (Mercer Island) for 5 years. It is hard to beat the Pacific Northwest. But after moving 17 times (10 states) we came back home to the Clayton area. Our best move ever. Get involved and you will love this area. Once again, welcome to Clayton.
Hey! Welcome to the 40/42 area Georgiared. You'll have to come out to one of the luncheons/outings that the board members here have occasionally (once you get settled of course) and meet some of the posters on here. All the ones I've met are really friendly and can answer (or find an answer for) most any question you may have about our community! Again--welcome aboard!
Thanks Curious for the welcome. You just let me know when the next lunch meeting is and I will be there. I will definately need to meet people. Like I said before, the only person I know of is my realtor. The more the merrier!
She did give me a generic folder with some utilites, but I was trying to get a feel from people in Clayton verses the Raleigh area generic. Trust me, I could not have asked for a better realtor I just wanted to know what the people in our area use. Sometime someone might know of who to use and who not to use.
The Town is responsible Just call the Town - that's what I did to set up electricity/trash/water - and I live around the corner. You don't have a choice - they are THE provider - www.townofclaytonnc.org. I use Jenkins for the gas tank. I use Vonage for phone and Time Warner Cable (unfortunately, cuz it's expensive) for Internet. I have Dish for TV. Welcome!
