Cleveland Library moves to 52-hour, 7-day a week schedule. To ensure a continuing schedule can be maintained, the library is seeking additional volunteers to staff the service desk, give books away, prepare books for the collection, shelve books, and do light housekeeping. Training classes for volunteers will start January 18. The library has been open to the public 32 hours weekly, Mondays 1-9 and Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays 9-5. Starting January 9, the library will be scheduling volunteer teams for work days another 20 hours, Tuesdays and Fridays 9-5 and Sundays 1-5, both in the building and working in the community giving books away. The public is invited to call Cleveland Library at 661-6565 to ensure there will be volunteers to staff for the additional hours, before visiting the library on the new work days.

A nice set of new children's books arrived Thursday, possibly a complete set of L'Amour westerns arrived last week, more than 100 new romance books in one series arrived this week, and some wonderful new fiction and non-fiction. Working in the library is like Christmas every day.

We would love to have someone do a quick count of the children's books, so we would be able to issue an accurate annual report. The juveniles just pushed the young adult books to the other side of the aisle.
