We received forms regardign this organization from the kids' school. I noticed they have a new Challenger Divsion for children ages 5-16 w/ disabilities. I was wondering if any of you on here know any more details about this. I just emailed them but hoping maybe someone on here has info or might be interested in their children participating. Thanks. stephanie--mom to 7
We've never personally been in any Pop Warner sports but I've heard good and bad things. Good being nice people, fun for their kids, etc. Bad is all the travel involved but that comes with just about any sport and then the cost seemed high for some. Again, you have to consider all the paraphernalia you have to buy for any sport. Personally, if they have started something for kids with disabilities... THAT is awesome!
We haven't participated due to the high cost, but know people who have and were very happy with the experience. The only complaint I heard was that attendance to the practices and games, by the players, was often sporadic. If they don't have enough players, the team has to forfeit. I love that they have a program now for kids with disabilities. If the cost is prohibative I would let them know and see if there is any way that they can work with you on it.
I also recommend Smithfield Parks & Rec for football. It only cost about $65 for out of town residents and that includes uniforms and everything. They are working on having a league that will just travel Johnston County and maybe some eastern Wake County. I have always been pleased with the football progam in Smithfield. They usually practice on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday night. Maybe some short practices on Friday. Never on Wednesday night as this is a church night and they honor that no matter if they have had rain and had to cancel other practices.
