Hmmm...I always do Lake Benson, which is in Garner. There's one in Clayton, but never been to it and I always get the roads over there confused. Check out town of clayton website for it. Amelia church & Guy Rds I think? someone on here help her out please! There's also a playground at sluggers I think is open to the public right on Cleveland School Rd, not far from you. Never been there either but someone on here mentioned it before. Is that place still open?

I think Slugger's is closed, so therefore the playground is, too. The closest playgrounds we have are at Amelia Church Road and the one in Smithfield. Amelia Church one is pretty easy...Take 1010 (go past Polenta elem) and turn left onto Barbor Mill Rd. Take that to Amelia Church Rd (there will be a hidden mom/pop grocery store on the right). Turn left onto Amelia church road. Cross 42. You will see the park on your right.

The one in Smithfield is near the highschool in Smithfield.

Wed2X - In case you're confused by the directions, 1010 is the same as Cleveland School Rd...

Well I found the one next to Parkside Apts? I am not sure which one it was but there were quite a few kids to play with. I think it was off Amelia though?

I think you may be right. Seems like that is near apts. Was there a big pool/water park near there as well?

Yes the park next to Parkside Apt is Clayton Community Park.

There is a nice new park on Hwy50, towards Garner. Has a playground and soccer fields. It's right past New Bethel Church on the right. Might be closer than going to Clayton.

Hmmm. I think I may have seen that in my travels.

Most of the schools have community playground signs posted. It doesn't provide a whole lot of other children to interact with but they do have neat structures to play on.
    How old are your kids?

My kids are 2 and 5. I thought of bringing them to Cleveland Elem. to play but was not sure it was allowed.
Our swingset did not fit on the truck and they are missing it. :?

I always forget about that new one on 50, even though during the school year I pass it every day (preschool is past it). Think it's called Centenial Park, or something like that. Yes, that's not far from you either, maybe 10 minutes? I was wondering if you could use school playgrounds, never tried. My kids wear our playground in the backyard out, so we never have the need to go anywhere!

I know in the past when Ferguson was at the helm, the Cleve Elem playgrounds were NOT for the public to use during off-hours. I don't know if this is an individual school-preference or what.

I like the park in Smithfield, by the Smithfield Park & Rec center. The big playset by the covered picnic area is AWESOME! It is kind of out of the way, but if you combine errands (go the library - esp storytime - or maybe make a trip to Walmart or Edward's IGA) it is worth the drive.
