OK...I'm struggling to drink the first liter of prep liquid (I'm already 20 minutes behind when it should be "done"), and in an hour I have another liter to go. Any suggestions from anyone on a way to make it easier to go down? Can I mix it with ginger ale? This is the foulest tasting stuff I've ever had to drink. Makes the super sugar solution for diabetes testing sound wonderful right now! If you've never heard of the stuff, it tastes like lemonade made with too few lemons and salt instead of sugar.......
its horrible, I know. I used a straw and just sucked it down. didn't stop, kept drinking. I did ice it down, which numbs your mouth and you don't taste it as much.
I read on the company's website that makes this stuff they also have a pill...4 pills every 15 minutes for 2 hours.....NO TASTE!!! Believe me, my doctor will hear about this from me tomorrow. If I ever have to have another one, I expect the tasteless pills!
Yes, I convinced my wife to take the pills. I knew she could not drink the liquid. You have to just make up your mind and chug-a-lug it. It does not get any easier the second jug.
Are you serious??!!! I had to choke that mess down last year, it was beyond awful. :ack: They have pills????
A couple of years ago I had to drink this yucky stuff. After a couple of hours I was about to drink some more and started up chucking this stuff everywhere. I thought, "hell no I cant do this." I called my doctor and he said not to drink any more. As long as the pooping had started he said it would flush me out. Thank god.....I still had a liter to go....
What really gets me is that the same company that makes the liquid torture is the one that makes the pills..... I tried chugging, but ended up spitting it back...my throat closed up. I've tried sipping quickly through a straw and without a straw. It's awful, and soon I must begin again! Supposedly this liquid is not as bad as it used to be...it's not a thick liquid, just nasty tasting. I did follow the advice of a family friend who has to have one of these EARLY, and I haven't had solid foods since Saturday. That's supposed to make it easier tonight.
It is probably to late now, but you can take it with ginger ale. If it is the fleet, and not colite stuff. As you found out too late there are the pills. If I were you I would give your doctor an ear full. Not nice. They really should think about what they would prefer. Good luck with your colonoscopy.
I don't know if the pills are right for everybody. I've had one and I'm really due for my 5 year reexamination. Hopefully, I can get the pills this time around. I was miserable by the next morning after so many repeated trips. Usually you can quit when your trips become repeatedly clear. Good luck with the test.
ds had to do the liquid and the laxatives when he had his done last year. thankfully he was only 2 so he had to take like a spoonful, dont know what I would have done if he would have had to had more. He hated it. Good luck with your colonoscopy!!
yes, you can do the 'pills' which is just double (maybe even triple) doses of over the counter Dulcolax.
I've been told that the pills are not as effective as the liquid. However, the only basis I have on this is that it was from someone who had a doc that told them that, and that doc did not prescribe pills...so take it with a grain of salt. However, what I do know is that prep (no matter what format, pill or liquid) is key to have a successful one (and who wants to go back for a second one!)
the key is to have clear discharge, no matter how you obtain it. thats all the doctor is wanting, so he can see, 'clearly'.
I also think by consuming mostly clearish liquids days before will help speed up the cleansing process, therefore eliminating (pun intended) the need to drink the entire jug of that crap - yukky stuff :ack:
Ya'll are gross. :ack: I swear if I had read this earlier in the AM, I probably would have puked my guts out.
Way to late, I know, but my problem with this was not taking some good advice from a friend who said to make sure you have some baby wipes and a good jar of salve. That "terlet" paper can be "rough as a cob".
