I remember threads regarding the Johnston County School calendar where parents were unhappy about the decisions made regarding days off and make-up days for school. I happened upon this link while checking my kids' elementary school web page. There are 4 sample calendars for 2008-2009 school year. They are looking for comments by November 16th. http://johnston.k12.nc.us/education...lt.php?sectiondetailid=61221&sc_id=1194912131
I also came across this online today, but for some reason I can't open them. I tried through this link too, and it still wouldn't work. I'd love to see them and give some feedback, so I will certainly keep trying.
Are you able to pull up the link at all? I wasn't able to open the calendars until I scrolled to the bottom of the page and clicked on the folder located under the Categories (5) headline. The folder contains the sample calendars and I downloaded them one at a time.
I still want to know why they have a 2012-2013 (or was it a 13-14) boundary map available but not publicized...
...don't have one. There is one hanging in the back of the office at West Clayton. When I saw it I asked about it and the ones I asked didn't even realize what the years on it were. So I figured that was a dead end for help.
My guess is they're not ready to field calls from the public complaining about the boundaries changing. Don't they usually wait a few weeks until school starts so parents have little time to contact BOE, Super, etc. to try and keep their boundaries as is? Or maybe they expect the maps will change again before then? It seems like the School District is always scrambling to keep up with the influx of students. Just look at CES and WestView. WestView had to bring in trailors this year already (after being open only a year). CES will have trailors back next year- already at capacity after dividing in two when WV opened. Wish I had a magic-wand to fix overcrowding. Hmm... who would I make disappear first? ha ha.
