Have been thinking for some time about getting a compound bow...not for hunting but just backyard target shooting. After doing some research, I'm finding that it can be more complicated than I thought!

Anybody have any advice they can pass along on what to look for in a good "starter" bow...brand, etc?

    Thanks! 8)

For a new bow check Bowsmith in Dunn, Black Creek Sport shop in Benson, Barefoot Archery in Smithfield or Springhill Outfitters they all carry compound bows. NC Hunters Supply in Raleigh might have a sale on their bows on Small business Saturday. I am planning on looking for a recurve bow during that time.
I would start with a used bow from craigslist and move up later when you know exactly what you want. Another good source on the internet to learn from is Hunters Friend.

Thanks for the link to Hunters Friend.... lots of good info on picking the right bow. I don't feel quite as bewildered by all the options now!

Anybody have any experience with SpringHill Outfitters and their indoor archery range?
