I need to network two computers at work... one is xp and one is vista

There are 4 computers networked all of which are "seeing" each other except for these two....

    sigh.... help!

Just make sure all the computers are in the same workgroup. Right click my computer, hit properties. There you will see what workgroup each is in and you can modify it if needed.

How is your network set up? Switches/routers/cross over cables?

Not really. It could be a million things without knowing how many switches & routers you have, and if you have a central server. It sounds like you don't have a server and are having routing issues at this point. Go to a command prompt on the two computers that the others can't see and type ipconfig. Write the 192.xxx.x.x numbers down then go to a computer that sees the other computers. Go to a command prompt again and type ping 192.xxx.x.xx and see if it returns a reply. If it does, it should just be a setting on those computers. If it doesn't, it'll be real hard to diagnose without looking at your set up.

Download the free version of "Network Magic", it should define the problem for you and connect the network. Check all the settings so you can do that yourself and then uninstall the Network Magic. It's a nag sometimes.
