We live in the McGees Crossroads area and get county water.
After taking a shower my skin feels somewhat sticky for lack of a better word and I have to wash my hair almost every day.
When we fill the bath tub it almost has a very light greenish tint to it and that is before adding the bubble bath ;)
Could it be from the pipes? Then again the house is only about 11 years old...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

That's gross. Does anyone know if there is a filtration system that can be installed to the main line to the house, so that the water gets filtered before it even runs through the hot water heater (or at least shortly thereafter, although I would think you wouldn't want sediment building in the heater either)? We're going to get an additional unit to filter the water at the kitchen tap, but I'd be willing to purchase two units if it means cleaner water. One to filter everything and the second to do another go of the water we're going to cook with and drink.

We use a filter on the line coming into the house. You can buy them at Lowe's. We have well water though, and yes the water does have a greenish hue to it, but it doesn't hurt anything.

Its still early but there is something in the works as far as water goes that will be good. For those of you that have pools wouldn't it be nice to eliminate your use of chemicals without losing the clarity of the water??? It could also be used in the house water system also...

there is a company, multipureco.com , they have both.i used to live at mcgees and had a well so i got one to hook to my sink to drink, it costs 379 new, i can sell it for 50, i dont have whole house one. our water was good and it cleaned out a lot. the only reason we dont use it cause we have county water and filter in fridge.

They can say it's purified, but no way am I going to drink or wash in anything that comes out of the Neuse River.

I just came back from checking the mail and there underneath the box I found a package containing a water testing kit,it says something about them testing the water in our area...is that a coincidence or what:?:

Check who its from - sometimes its a selling gimick for businesses so they can call you later to sell you water filter systems etc.

I just read the return address on it-sure enough that is what it is-a sales gimmick :x and I thought it might have been from the county...

If it was from the county, it would have been in your mailbox, with postage on it, not hanging on the outside of it. They do include the results of the latest tests of the county water with your bill about once a year, but as far as I know they don't go to individual homes to test the water.
