I think that if you are going to post an item on craigslist and ASK in your post to contact the seller by email that you should reply back to them in less than 24 hours. I wrote to someone yesterday about tickets to the Mudcats game for tomorrow and have heard nothing. I understand people aren't on their email all day, but if you post something you should at least check it once in the morning and once in the evening. :banghead:

I think some people just don't respond to posts anymore once the item is sold. I've had that happen numerous times where I email and never get a reply. Personally I think it's rude. When I've posted ads on Craigslist I remove it as soon as the item is sold and I email everyone who responded to let them know it's already sold. Hope that's not the case with you and that you can still get the tickets!

Oh sorry. I was looking to buy the tix. I went ahead and just got some off of the mudcats website.

I totally agree. It's not hard to remove an ad and/or to write back three words "Tickets sold. Thanks.". Sheesh. I went ahead and just bought the ones off the mudcats site.

i totally agree with that. But my thing with craigslist was back in January I wanted to get rid of an old riding mower with a blown engine so i put it up on craigslist for free. Had a gazillion emails for it. And when I had a person come get it I had removed the post but I still had tons of emails. And I responded to all of them. But I was in bed and someone still came by after 9:30pm to see if it was still there. And to top it off he got stuck in the mud and I had to have my neighbor come over with his van to help pull the guy out of the soft clay. I still ride over his tracks with my other mower, Then the next night around 9:00pm another person showed up unannounced looking for a mower that was gone over 24 hours

we've had this happen too. the last person we emailed took 6 days to answer. she seemed to get mad when i told her that since we hadn't heard back we bought from someone else.

  8. I've learned also not to wait too long on one person. I was selling my elliptical a few months back and the lady came to get it by herself! She knew my husband wasn't home. She'd just had a C-section and I couldn't lift it by myself. So she had to go home. I felt sorry for her so I told her she could come back the next day with her husband. Well, I had to turn down two people because of that. The next day, she never called or e-mailed so I called her. She decided it was too much trouble and went and bought a new one. I was mad that she didn't call and at least let me know so I can let someone else get it!!!!

My strategy for giving stuff away for free on Craigslist: Put the item by your mailbox. Post on Craigslist what street you live on (or what block, if it's a long street), say the item is out by the mailbox, and to just come and get it. When the item is picked up, you should of course remove the listing, but for those already on their way, they have no idea who you were or where you live.

You'd think if you were giving something away for free and someone called and said, "I'm coming to get it, please hold it for me", that they'd actually come and get it. But noooooo.... I had several people never show up, so I finally started posting using the above method. No phone calls, no emails. The first one to get their hands on it owns it.

While I agree this is easiest for the giver-awayer, it is so frustrating to go to get something and it be gone. It is a waste of my time and gas. So I will no longer go to get curb alerts. But that is just me.

I hate when people pester me to death about what I am giving away. I have some VHS tapes and people want to know the titles. (it is two BIG boxes - I am not going to list them all!)

Freecycle is great for giving things away.
