does anyone know where a butcher is in the area where we can get a deer processed. the closest we've found is in sanford. thanks
Jerald Mc Lamb Slaughter House 623 Benson Hardee Rd Benson, NC 27504 (919) 894-2587 pretty sure these guys do it too -- we buy our pig pickin pigs here
McLambs does process deer. There is a $25 deposit. Believe it is .60 or .69 cent per pound. $25 deposit deducted off total.
You should do it yourself. We do, if you'd like a book I'll let you borrow ours when I get it back from my BIL. There are a TON of recipies in this book as well as how to dress small game and big game.
The going rate here in PA on all the signs at the side of the road seems to be around $40 to cut up and wrap a deer. Not sure if that includes making some sausage by grinding some and mixing with pork fat and seasonings.
harleygirl.. Would you happen to know the name of the book mentioned? Wouldn't mind having a copy of that myself. Thanks in advance!! 8)
I remember the first deer I dressed out,had to do it as it got dark,on the tail gate of my truck when I got through I looked like a mass murderer, covered in blood, damndest sight, freaked my wife out
I second doing it yourself. I got my hubby a meat grinder last year for Christmas. We had venison burgers last week, mmm-mmm good!!
DH has a nice rack. Got one of the first ones in the Green Swamp (Bolivia, NC) and it was a 12pt buck! He's been hooked ever since.
Hey Harley or Cleo, where do you get the grinder. i have been racking my brains trying to think of things to get DH and i think he would love that.
