There is a medium size black and brown beagle type dog that has been running around our neighborhood, and the fields behind it, for quite a long time. I have tried to catch him multiple times, but he always runs away. This morning, I left some food out for him, but he wouldn't come close. Now it looks as if his leg might be hurt. It looks like he has a collar on, but I can't tell what color it is because he doesn't allow anyone close before he runs off. PLEASE let me know if it could be yours, I have been worried sick about this dog for weeks!! I am in the South Plantation subdivision, off Polenta Rd. Please email me at lslsbl@nc.rr.com if you are the owner, or if you know someone who is missing this dog. He needs his owners back!!
Poor baby! I worry about that so much with both my babies, but especially my lab. She is very untrusting so I don't think she would go up to anyone even if they were trying to help.
If it is the same one I am thinking about. He comes down Watkins Rd (usually at night) goes through the field that comes off Polenta and walks the wood all around that area. I too have tried to get him, but he is very scared acting, and will come no where close. I sat out one night in the dark, thinking he would come up and eat, and he just would have nothing to do with the food or anything. Hopefully, he will find he owners soon.
I just don't understand people that "love" their animals letting them roam. (I'm not talking about a farm either, I do understand that). I've never been able to understand that? If you can't afford a fence, do what I used to do, get your lazy rear up and walk them on a leash. I cherish my animals too much to leave their fate up to others!
I absolutely agree. My problem is, I worry about him, and look for him all the time!! I just wish someone would report him missing or something - then I could make sure he gets back to his family. My big fear is that he was "dropped off" or something - now THAT makes me CRAZY!!!
I am with you, I look for him every night when I get home. When I don't see him, I think the worst. I keep food out all the time. I know sometimes it gets eaten by racoon's, opposems (sp) and other wild animals, but they have to eat to.
Is this the little guy I occasionally see at the dump on Barbers Mill? I pulled over to get him one day and he took off.
RCARP, I'm so glad somebody else is looking out for him too. If you happen to get him one day send me an email - I would be willing to get him to a vet to have him checked out, and, then, we could at least see if there is a tag on his collar or something! HUGHT: I hope it's not the same one because that's pretty far, but, it probably is. He seems to be quite the little roamer!
Trap doesn't work, he is too smart. I have lots of friends the do rescue, so I know that if I can get him, they can make sure he checks out and get any needed vet attention. He is just so scared acting of everything.
