Daughter's diploma came in the mail today and their was no "Do Not Bend" on the cardboard envelope it came in, and the Mailman bent it to put it in the mailbox, and now the diploma has a nice big wrinkle thru part of it in the middle..... How can I get the wrinkle out... Does anyone know how to iron a wrinkle out of paper? She was disappointed, and said she worked hard for that.
this kinda falls into one of my areas: poster collecting depending on how bad the crease is, it can be flattened using a heat press found at some frame shops. document restoration is also a possibility, like a linen-backing kind of process where the paper is mounted to cloth. you can try the home method, iron it with the document under a plain white tshirt. good luck ps any chance of getting a replacement for it since it was damaged in the mail? will they send you another one, whoever "they" is?
Here are some suggestions that may help... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070621081555AAej8LX&show=7 http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080205145922AAyhGQh http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/byform/mailing-lists/bookarts/2004/06/msg00367.html I have not tried any of these myself, I simply did a google search which produced THIS. I would suggest, whatever you decide to try, try it on a piece of similar paper (that you don't mind damaging) first. Also, you might contact the school and get a brand new duplicate diploma.
The college is closed on Fridays for the summer, so we will try calling on Monday to see if we can get a replacement that we will pick up in person! Thanks,,, any other home remedies I might try?
I hope you are going to report this to the postmaster for your zipcode postoffice. I was at the PO on Main in Clayton, when a feeble, elderly man came carrying his mailbox. (He had taken it off the wall on the front of his house.) The mailman had crammed the mail in so tightly (including all that advertising crap) that the elderly gentleman lacked the hand/arm strength to dislodge the mail. The postmaster struggled to do it for him - and he said he would create a special directive to the mailman, to quit it!
