Can anyone recommend someone (reasonably priced--of course!!) to come and repair my dishwasher? It isn't draining, just collecting water in the bottom, I pulled it out to see if any hoses are kinked but didn't see anything. thanks
try taking the drain hose loose where it goes into the pipe or disposal. Make sure both sides are free of crud. Then hold the hose in a bucket & see if it'll pump out like that.
Was able to get the hose off where it goes into the drain and there was nothing there. Can't get the hose off of the dishwasher because the screwhead is behind other parts! Will have to buy a very small screwdriver to try that tomorrow. Thanks
Mine stopped draining a few weeks ago, it was stopped up where the dishwasher hose goes into the drain under the sink. Apparenty it was pinched on install. So seven years later a couple popcorn kernels stopped it up tighter than a drum. I was shopping for a new dishwasher, then DH found the issue.
That part of the hose was clear (connecting to the drain pipe, got it off and checked it out)....I'm hoping to get the other end off tomorrow and it will be something simple like that. UGH. Dishwasher is a frigidaire and only 2 years old.
I googled the problem and it pointed us in the right direction. If you haven't already, I'd start with the troubleshooting section on the manufacturer's website. Good luck! : )
If u have a wetvac u can suck it out from that end. If u plan to take off the hose from the dishwasher end be very carefull that part of the housing is very fragile. Also be prepared to catch about a qt of water that will be in the pump housing. Lemme ask u this...are u sure you hear the motor spinning when it goes into the drain cycle?
I do not have a wetvac. The dishwasher sounded the same yesterday as it did on Saturday when it was running, but when I opened it, there was water that had not drained. I know there will be quite a bit of water to come out when I disconnect the hose on the bottom of the dishwasher and that's one reason I'd rather have someone that knows what he/she is doing look at it. But if it's a matter of taking that off and cleaning it out, I'd like to save myself the money!!!!
Got it fixed! thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Turns out a few popcorn kernals can really stop up the drain!!!! Thankfully that's all it was and a friend was able to fix it.
