I have this giant jar (from BJs, so it's a big one) of bread and butter pickles. It's been opened once and has been living in the back of my fridge for the last year. Every time I clean it out I leave them because I think maybe they are still ok. Now I have a hankerin' for some bread and butter pickles and there they are. And now I'm skeerd.

    Would you eat them?

Here's a great website I use to check things like this. www.stilltasty.com
I looked up pickles and it said up to 1 year but if they've changed in appearance, odor or if there's mold to discard them. :ack:

I'm about the same way, although I will say that I've grown to occasionally like a dill spear with a really good cheeseburger or similar. Never cared for sweet pickles.

The only way I volunutarily eat pickles is rarely in tuna salad. Like once or twice a year. Can't stand 'em!! Maybe I should learn though, they are fat free. 8)

Mt. Olive has also come up with pickles with Splenda! I tried the bread and butter kind and they were good. A little different tasting but still good.

Mount Olive is one of those towns that often has a unique smell due to its main product. There's some days that no matter what side of town you're on, the smell of pickle brine is heavy in the air.
