Do your children go to Dr. R's office?

We've been taking our children to Dr. Dan in Cary ... pediatric dentist and we LOVE him. However, our insurance policy has changed. Even though Dr. Dan was out of network before, we got reimbursed about 75-80%. After the change it is significantly less (got back $18 for a $132 visit ... OUCH).

The dentist can be such a traumatic experience I hesitate greatly to change my children from where they are comfortable. However if they can get the same quality care and treatment with an in-network dentist ... My husband and I love Dr. R's office. Our children go with us for most visits so are familiar with the office.

I'm wondering if the dentists at Dr. R's office are as good with children (specifically 1st/2nd grade age) as they are with adults. Are they patient and positive with the children especially when doing something like fillings. Do they do sealants and have experience with pediatric care? Are there certain dentists/hygienists that are better with children or ones who are not as child-friendly?

Thanks ... my husband and I have gone to the 40/42 office since it opened. Best dental office I've EVER been to. Just wondering if they are geared for treating children, too.

My youngest went (preschool age) and they had him sit on my lap and it was great.

yes ma'am they are. We go to the 210 office now, but started out at 4042. Love both places. You'll have no regrets. Don't even tell the kids you are changing or anything, then they'll sense your bit of anxiety about changing, just take them in and say, you're gonna go to the same Dentist as Mommy! Yeah!!!! :)

My daughter is in 2nd grade and she goes to the location at Flowers. They are really good with the kids. However, she would not let them take the X-rays but they were ok with it. They told us it typically takes a little while with her age to get them to do it. We will try again in 6 months with the X-rays.

My daughter is in 1st grade and we go to the 210 office. She had a "sugar bug" (cavity) and never complained about getting the filling. She's not easy-going so I was happy that she wasn't scared or hurting afterwards. The staff was great w/ her. Of course, I acted like everything was routine so she didn't have any reason to go in feeling nervous, etc.

Another member of the Dr R fan club here!! Hubby and I both love Dr R! He and his staff are the best! I have been to the McGees X road and the 40/42 locations and they are both wonderful.
