Saw him back in the mid-'80's at McDibbs in Black Mountain, NC (where I lived for 5 years). McDibbs is a small place, so I could get right up near the stage. Doc played beautifully, still had a pretty robust voice, and gave one fine show. Glad I got to see him live at close range, and the memory of that evening is something I will continue to treasure.
