Some of the threads in the Discussion Group has gotten me thinking of places where we ARE allowed to bring dogs. Please, let's help each other and start keeping track ... let's get out and socialize our 4-legged family members!! So ... where can we bring dogs? Petsmart, of course.
My dog, <<<<<<<<<<<< Pearl goes just about everywhere with me. She usually sits in the car, unless it's too hot. Then I either leave the AC on or take her and tie her up outside. I've taken her in Lowes (Home Improvement, not Foods) often, and have never had a problem with the employees or customers, but obviously there are some folks on here that would take issue with that.... The aisles are very wide and she doesn't interact with anyone that doesn't "ask for it" (She's very friendly!) She doesn't poop or pee on the floor, there's no food being served, so personally I don't see anything wrong with it. But, then again, what do I know?.... :?
What a great thread!!! I used to take our previous dogs whenever I could also,I even took our first dachsie to Germany with me,there you can take them just about anywhere with you including some Restaurants,I know that will probably never happen here but it has never been a big issue over there,I just talked to my sister about it and she can't remember ever hearing about people breaking out in allergies,or seeing doghair,dogpoop,etc.,etc.after going to a Restaurant or Department store, for example where they allow dogs and yes they do have a Health Dept.over there checking on Restaurants etc. If you ask me it also very much depends on a responsible owner! We always took them with us when going to either the Coast or the Mountains here. Sadly I can't come up with anything other than Petsmart around here either,oh and the Veterinarians office off course :jester:
dog friendly I have heard there are some restaurants where they have outdoor seating that are ok with it but always check with the establishment first.
This is a list that was published in 2008 of Dog Friendly restaurants ... where you can sit on the patio outside with your canine-kids. Apparently, there's going to be some ruling in 2011 about whether this will be a rejected practice or not in NC ... but I'd always call and check first to make sure things havent changed since this list first appeared in the News and Observer. (I couldnt find the actual publication/article - I pulled it off of a mail list I'm on. ) -Carol ________________________________________ Triangle Restaurants that Allow Dogs Table Service Raleigh Bella Monica – Edward's Mill Rd Buffalo's – Creedmore Rd Champas – Brier Creek Falls Tap Room - Falls of Neuse Rd The Flying Saucer – West Morgan St Gianni and Gaitano - Creedmore Rd Lilly's Pizza – Glenwood Ave Michael Dean's – Falls of Neuse Rd (not in winter) Mojoe's – Glenwood Ave Moonlight Pizza – West Morgan St Neomonde – Beryl Rd North Ridge Pub – Falls of Neuse Rd Players Retreat - Oberlin Rd Raleigh Times – Hargett St Tavola Rossa - Homewood Banks Dr (Sun 5p-9p only) Vic's Ristorante – Blake St Village Draft House – Cameron Village Durham Foster's – Durham Chapel Hill Blvd Tyler's Tap Room – American Tobacco District Chapel Hill Brixx – Meadowmont Village Cir Cary Andy's – N. I bet Cap'n is a lot like Pearl..... she looks mean and has got a badass bark, but wouldn't hurt a flea! (Don't tell nobody!!!)
Really PrdMafia, I would like to see somebody try. Actually, you should have told her to call the fuzz. It's not illegal to leave an animal in a hot car, it should be - but it's not.
I wish my dog could ride around with me, but unfortuneatly he gets car sick. I'd never heard of that with a dog before, but our vet says it's not uncommon. Still makes me a little sad though.
Just a heads up, I left the truck on one day so the Beagle could stay cool. Unfortunately he goes bat feces crazy when he sees another dog or cat, and he knocked it out of park into neutral and it rolled into something it shouldn't have. Two years later and I still catch hell for the "Driving Dog"
Wasn't so funny at the time, half expected to get sued. A 35 pound pouch can do a lot of damage. Now he is a svelte 30 pounds and he isn't left in a running vehicle by himself. 8)
My shepherd Dusty used to LOVE to ride in cars, but got car sick if we went further than 3 or 4 minutes. I had to start giving her dramamine for motion sickness anytime we went anywhere, even just to the vet. I tried to break her of it .. we'd go for a ride just around the block, or just down the street, try to build up more and more time ... but it always got to her.
What about JR's? I thought the could go shopping there. Folks used to be able to smoke in there too. it was cool.
Now there's a word you don't hear every day.... "svelte", a word I often use to describe Pearl (see above). However, most people laugh when I use that word to decribe her, and I don't understand why. Last time she was weighed, over a year ago, she weighed in at 109. She has since lost weight, and I think she looks downright SVELTE!!!! Yes, she's a boxer......She's just a plus size girl.
