From a mail list I'm on - true or not, I dont know, just be careful!! Hello Everyone, Just a heads up email. FYI A freind of mine emailed me the following: Please beware of two people trying to steal dogs out of yards in the Garner area. Today, I stopped such a thing from happening to my dogs. A woman removed my two dogs from my fenced in backyard and was heading toward a waiting vehicle. She had no idea I was home and I stopped her and retrieved my dogs. After a bunch of craziness with her she ran off to the "getaway" car. I called police. Please keep a close eye on your pets. The vehicle is an older black jeep cherokee-type vehicle. I did not see the driver, but she is Caucasian with red hair and had another dog on a leash at the time. The cop had noticed her right before the incident today. They have not been caught and God knows what they have in mind for the dogs they are trying to steal (dog fight bait, re- selling, etc). Be careful.
God help the person who would try to steal my dog  Luckily Shelby doesn't even want to be outside, she just does her business and comes back in. Not too many people approach Shelby anyway, because of the "Chow" look!
My babies are both inside all day as well...hence why I have a petsitter. When they do go out, my lab will stay out for about 10 minutes running around and the little guy goes out long ebough to potty and thats it! People ask why I don't leave them outside...this is why! Of course, the fence has padlocks as well.
We were all playing outside and we ran in for a minute and left our chihuahua outside (bad mom I know...) but we were really only inside for a minute. We came back out and a station wagon was pulled into our yard a bit, but still on the street and their kids were trying to catch our dog!!! I asked the adult in the car what they were doing and she said she thought he was a stray and wanted to help??? I was so mad, but didnt know what to do.... Good thing they couldnt catch him, he would have bitten them anyway!!
Well someone did take one of my babies... I ain't going to say anymore about it other than...kookoo found and set all who was involved straight.8) Everyone's back in place now and all is honky dory!
While a doggie door permits the boys to go in and out as they please, padlocks on both gates (from the inside) prevent them from being opened. To quote Mr. T "I pity the fool" who attempts to scale the 6.5' of wood that keeps the boys contained.
