Does anyone know anything about Dollywood? Like places to stay near by and will an 11 year old like it? I was looking on line at the cabin rentals and am wondering if that is a good idea. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
We have been to Dollywood several times and have enjoyed it. There are SOOOO many places to stay nearby, just depending on what you are looking for. Pigeon Forge is closest to DW but Gatlinburg is not very far away so you can compare prices on what amenities you are looking for. Cabin rentals are not too bad either. And there are many forms of entertainment!!! Especially for kids. Putt-putt, go karts, museums galore. Enjoy!!
yes!!! love that place!!! it reminds me of a cleaner myrtle beach just in the mountains we stay at a time share and we have rented cabins there too!!
You'll have a great time! We stayed at Greywolf Lodge (I think that's the name) the last time we were there. It was decent and reasonably priced, near the Ripley's Aquarium (which is MUCH nicer than the one at Myrtle, BTW). It's been a few years though. Love Dollywood and Gatlinburg.
Our first stay at Pigeon forge was last summer. We were vacationing with friends who were coming from another part of the country, and they picked PF so we really just trusted them. When we drove in, it felt like Myrtle Beach without the ocean. I was imagining it to be more like the Smokey Mountains than the honkey-tonk atmosphere it was. But, it was great fun for the kids. We rented a cabin in PF, and went to all the attractions (just don't go to the dinosaur museum. In my mind, it was a big $ rip off. They advertised over XX species of dinosaurs, so I expected a lot of dinosaurs, but many of them were the size of army men my son plays with )
Thanks for all the info. Can anyone recommend any cabins to rent. I really don't want to stay in a hotel or motel. This way if we want to be lazy we have a nice place to sit and chill. Thanks again
I have a cabin, but not anywhere near there. I list mine on www.vrbo.com, and there are many on there. You can also check out Craigslist under vacation rentals. I wish I could recommend some, but we always went camping at campgrounds when we went out there. I do love that whole area, lots of fun things to do. Never been to Dollywood though, let us know how it goes!
I have checked some out on line, then my DH's boss told him not all of them look as good IRL as they do in the pictures. I will let you know how it is.
