http://www.wral.com/400-injured-by-blasts-as-meteor-falls-in-russia/12111157/ I guess this is a different event? Scary stuff!! From the article: Russian news reports noted that the meteor hit less than a day before the asteroid 2012 DA14 is to make the closest recorded pass of an asteroid -- about 17,150 miles (28,000 kilometers). But the European Space Agency, in a post on its Twitter account, said its experts had determined there was no connection. Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the nationalist leader noted for vehement statements, said "It's not meteors falling, it's the test of a new weapon by the Americans," the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
And something similar happened a little over a hundred years ago. http://earthsky.org/space/what-is-the-tunguska-explosion
