I got this send to me by email and thought I would share it. THE JOB - URINE TEST (I HAVE TO PASS A URINE TEST FOR MY JOB... SO I AGREE 100% Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ***, doing drugs, while I work. . . ... Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)
Now that is a great idea. I have two in my neighborhood that would have to get a job, I have had to work everyday to make a living. These two women do nothing and have their drugs delivered to them, they are getting assistance. I asked one why she didn't get a job and she said I would have to get up in the morning and be there at a certain time. I can't do that!:banghead:
I think this is the greatest idea I have seen in a long time. I personally know a few who would have to do without and I would love to see it.
I know a lot of people that fit this profile. I know of a girl that had 3 kids, got a job making $7 hour 40 hours a week. She was getting a check, around $400 a month. So the Social Services made her get a job, so they could cut out the check. Her job paid her about $1100, before taxes. When she got the job she also got daycare paid for all three babies (8 month twins and a 2 year old) which is about $375 a week. ($1550 a month). She was getting food stamps for the first 2 months. After 10 weeks of work she got a notice that she was losing her food stamps, so what did she do! SHE QUIT HER JOB!! My thinking on this is let her keep getting the $400 a month and look after her own kids!! This would save the state over $1000 a month. And let someone who wants to work and be somebody get the daycare assistance.
this is a great idea...but I don't think it could be utilized without a lot moaning and groaning and general government BS.
and then you have to pay for all the tests, pee cups, people to execute the test and tons of paperwork - so by then - they probably wouldn't save any money after all :banghead:
Keep in mind that many industries require a drug test to ensure the safety of other workers. They don't need some dope-head on a machine press cutting off co-workers fingers. That being said the argument could be made both ways about a welfare recipient posing a safety hazrd as well. A) no place of work = noone to injure B) high as heck and out driving to the ESC when he crashes and kills someone.
Ah but think of the increase in employment and new buildings needed for such a task. Would be a boost to the economey. Craig
