Not sure if anyone here can answer this, but thought I'd give it a shot! We're going to Orlando on Christmas Day (will be leaving right after breakfast and presents) and are wondering where we can eat that day? I remember one year we drove to the mountains on Xmas day, and there was NOTHING opened, we were so hungry ate at a Chinese place, and hubby's the only one that likes Chinese food. :ack: Has anyone been to Orlando before for Xmas, and know of any places open that day? I didn't know if there would be a lot open due to high traffic in that are. Disney character meals are already booked. I emailed Golden Corral and the hotel to see if they're open or doing anything that day. Any other ideas?
DMJ I used to live near Oblando. With many families visiting theme parks etc over the holidays, most places will be open. Remember, this is prime winter tourist time for them in Fl. Folks trying to escape winter head down there to get a little sun. You shouldn't have any issues finding a place to eat.
Are you driving or flying? If you're going to be driving on Christmas Day, you will probably find restaurants open near the major exits along I-95. Truck stops are generally open 24-7-365, and some of them are not bad places to eat. Flying J truck stops cater to RV'ers as well as truckers, and we always found them to be decent places to stop.
Cracker Barrel or maybe some of the K & W/ K & S restaurants? DH and I go to K & W every year for T-Giving lunch - turkey & dressing with all the trimmings! YUM!!
Most Jewish people eat out at a Chinese restaurant on Christmas. You will find many of those open with some great Jews telling outlandish stories if you care to join them. They always invite others. But if your husband doesn't like Chinese I think KDs's suggestion was good, if driving. Have fun...Jamaica bound on our end during that time frame. Conch baby...that's my Christmas dinner. Sherry
Thanks for your suggestions everyone, I'm hoping we find something! Got email back from the hotel that just said they hadn't decided yet on Xmas dinner. I'm thinking with all the people down there that there will be places open, just like Hat said.
For your drive down there, Cracker Barrel might be a good choice. At least their food, service, and cleanliness is usually consistent. As for Flying J, as an Rv'er, we know where most of them are, along with Truckstops of America, etc. Our dining experience with the FJ on the way to Greensboro should alert you to one thing. No matter where or what type of restaurant: Check the health rating. If it's a low A, or less..we leave. The last thing you'd want on vacation is for someone to be sick from food borne illness. Trust us on this one. Note that CB is closed Christmas Day.
