I broke a molar on Friday and have tried to find a dentist or dental clinic who offers emergency care. I called all dentist from A to Z in the phone book. Those who were open on Friday would not see me, and most others are closed until after new year. I called and left two messages for my own dentist ( on the emergency # listed on his office message)- but have yet to receive a call back. What is a Johnston County person to do if they have a dental emergency during off hours? holidays? Please let me know if you know anyone or anywhere to get help during the holidays?
Sorry to hear that. Have you contacted an urgent care center to see if they could provide you any assistance?
Contacted Urgent care - no dentist on call. Was told to take tylenol and orajel until dentist opens. However, if it gets to bad, to go to the hospital. I guess I am not up for waiting 6-7 hours in the JMH waiting room.
Most drug stores have temporary filling material that you can cover the tooth until you can get into see a dentist. Also Advil/Motrin will work better for the tooth pain than Tylenol will. Just FYI - JMH (or any Urgent Care or ED) would only be able to provide pain medication and/or antibiotics as needed and tell you to see a dentist as soon as possible. We also do not have a dentist there and cannot do dental work. UNC does have a dental clinic but I do not know if they will be open because of Christmas but should be open between Christmas and New Years - it is worth a phone call. Good Luck!! Karen
Pooh Bear, I'm right here checkin in on the board. Thanks for asking Swamp frog, PM me with your info and we'll help get you out of pain. I'll check in a couple times today to see if you've sent me the info. We're closed till Thursday, but I can see you tomorrow if need be. UNC hospitals will treat SEVERE dental emergencies ( I'm sure, I was one of their dental residents a few years back) Gotta get back to my FOUR kids. Merry Christmas to everyone. Dr. R is right, UNC hospital's ER has a dental resident on call at all times when the school isn't open. Thats likely your best bet on Christmas day. Hope you feel better. Or you could just have a bunch of eggnog to "numb" the pain. M
I know I do, He kept me from having to go to the ER when the Urgent Care mis-diagnosed. He is one of the kindest people I have ever met! He will always have my business!
