Emergency Services Briefing TODAY on Tropical Storm Hanna

    Smithfield, NC - Johnston County Emergency Services would like to invite each of you to a briefing today at 2 p.m. regarding Tropical Storm Hanna. The briefing will be held in the Auditorium of the new PublicSafetyBuilding at JohnstonCommunity College.

    Smithfield, NC – Emergency Services employees have made preparations and are continuing to monitor the path of Tropical Storm Hanna and will notify the public if and when it becomes necessary to open any shelters.

    Residents are encouraged to prepare disaster kits should the storm affect Central North Carolina. Items to have readily available include a 3 day supply of water, medicine, ready to eat foods, manual can opener, battery operated radio, flashlights and replacement batteries.     Should evacuations become necessary residents in the affected areas will be notified by a Rapid Notify telephone system.

    We recommend residents take all precautionary measures possible should Tropical Storm Hanna impact Central North Carolina.
