Yeah...just heard that on NPR...don't know how I'd feel about that if I were a part of the church.

I believe that if her name was not well know she would not be hired for such a position.

I believe it has been reported she grew up in church. That did not stop her from her the decisions she made. Thus, I believe she should have to demonstrate a change over time before being appointed to that type of leadership role.

I wouldn't worry too much. The whole affair was a trumped up political game anyway. Ms. Phipps didn't play ball the way Strate's Shows and the previous Ag Commissioner had been doing. She ruffled the feathers of some big players, so they taught her a lesson. Her biggest crime was that she was sloppy and didn't have the "dignity and discretion" required by the other mob family members.

While people make mistakes, this isn't a public matter, in my opinion. This is between her and her family's church.

For the sake of discussion, I will say that at face value, I see nothing wrong with the position she will undertake. Is the title to imply that she will work with children exclusively or both adults and children? What would this matter? Will she be solely in charge of some church finances? It should come as no surprise that even the most geniunely righteous individual can make poor choices at times in their lives. I have no personal insight of what kind of person Phipps is, but to assume that she does make mistakes is a reasonably good one because we all do.

What we have understanding of is that she will at some point, have paid her debt criminally. Spiritually, while solely up to God, he offers forgiveness to those who earnestly seek it. That is between her and God. So, we know that upon her release, she has served her criminal sentence and can assess that God certainly is forgiving, even if we can not ascertain that He has, in fact, forgiven her. So, it would seem that this is the church's decision to make and not the media nor the general public; only those who have membership at her church.

    I like your Christ.
I do not like your Christians.
They are so unlike your Christ.

One can also say, who better to teach young folks not to make the same mistakes she has made with all the choices we have in this world today.
